Black Business Owner in Brooklyn Found a Way to Save Money, Then Turned That Into Her Business

Growing up in Brooklyn Keisha Walker was the friend who knew how to do hair. Once Keisha and her friends started wearing hair extensions, they would change their hair once or twice a month, and spend tons of money each time. She thought “why not be a hair vendor? Women are always going to change their hair, and that is something that will never go out of style.”

Keisha is the owner of “Topnotch Attraction”, selling Virgin Hair Extensions, wigs, lace closures and frontals to people around the world. She wants to influence young black people by shattering the myth or thought process that only “white people own business and are successful.”

“I want to encourage young black individuals to not only dream big but turn dreams into reality.

I’m also working on a women’s feminine health line called “Topnotch V” , which promotes organic feminine cleansing. I came across herbal feminine cleansing a long time ago but I recently started doing in-depth research on herbs and discovered the health benefits of using herbs and organic products for women’s overall health. I notice there is a lack of knowledge of this in the African American Community; So I’d like to share my knowledge and introduce organic products that can benefit women’s health.”

Keisha is currently working as a counselor at a Non-Secure placement for juveniles. She graduated from Morgan State University with a B.S in psychology.

Be on the lookout for Ms. Keisha in the near future. After rebranding TopNotch Attraction she plans to open an event space in NYC, and speak on panels to groups of young aspiring entrepreneurs.
